Colin Powell

Colin Powell overcame racial discrimination to the first African-American to hold several important positions, including the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Secretary of State. He is considered by many to be one of the best officers in the country. His hard work and determination won him many honors, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the Congressional Gold Medal and the Purple Heart.
