Sophiatown, South Africa: the 'golden' 1950s. Drum is South Africa's first ever black magazine, and for its two most vivacious and dynamic writers, it's business as usual. Can Themba, the 'Shakespeare of the Shebeens', is flouting the law with a mixed race liason, and Henry 'Mr Drum' Nxumalo is edging ever closer to danger with his unique style of investigative journalism.
