Descrizione UBUNTU MORALITY: A Remedy for Tribalism in Kenya

Anything which undermines, hurts, threatens or destroy human beings is not accommodated in the Ubuntu way of life but frowned upon as it affects the very foundation of society: the human person. Respect for a person, accompanied by acceptable good behavior, is crucial. It signifies recognition of another person¿s humanity. Thus, respect motivated by Ubuntu, is evident in the way people relate, talk and show courtesy to one another. People are recognized and regarded as equals by virtue of their humanity. Tribalism locks us and prevents us from developing. In instances where merit has been sacrificed at the altar of tribalism, the consequence is always poor economy, slow or no development at all. A person in the Ubuntu worldview is the basis, center and end of everything. All other things only make sense in relation to persons. This is the kind of philosophy that I propose for my country Kenya to adopt to enable it fight the cancer of tribalism.
