A Surprise for Baby Ruth

A Surprise for Baby Ruth, is based on an event that happened to the authoras mother, Ruthie Lee Anderson Hosey, when she was a little girl living in rural Smith County on the edge of the Cohay Swamp near Bienville National Forest. The story describes daily life in rural Smith County in the early 1900s. After having a successful and fun day of games and chores, including making a cobbler, Baby Ruth is greeted at her cabin door by a surprise from the swamp.
