In this third treasury of Mutts, McDonnell playfully redesigns the Sundays from What Now and I Want to Be the Kitty to showcase their splendor. Muttsis an escape into what appears on the surface to be a more simple, carefree world. But beware: underneath the banter of these endearing characters the reader often finds himself facing the all-too-real concerns of animals. Through the use of his distinctive cartooning style and gentle humor, a delicate balance is achieved by this unique and particularly talented cartoonist. Mutts has been syndicated by King Features since 1994 and enjoys a circulation of more than 500 daily newspapers. Awards include the Outstanding Cartoonist of the Year for 1999 from the NCS and their 1996 Newspaper Comic Strip of the Year. He was awarded Germany's Max & Moritz award for best international comic strip, the Adamson Statuette from the Swedish Academy of Comic Art for Best International Comic Strip Artist, and was honored with the Genesis Award for the recognition of animal rights.
