After the death of his wife Vincente Delgatto, Mafia boss, heads to Florida to stay with his son Joey whose job and lifestyle is a world away from the New York mob. With time on his hands Delgatto seems restless until Joey persuades him to write a memoir using local hack Arty Magnus as a ghost writer. Would-be author Arty scents a bestseller, Delgatto figures it's a means of venting his feelings without fingering anyone still living and Joey is relieved to see his father occupied.
