The Storyteller

Amid the popularity of documentary practices in contemporary art, "The Storyteller" addresses the use of storytelling as a means of exploring recent political events. For the artists in this volume, the story operates neither as a purely imaginary conceit nor as an item of verifiable information. In some cases, it may take the form of an invented drama based on real events; in others, it adopts literary genres such as the fairy tale or the quest; in still others, a dialogue is conceived between active participants in a contemporary political situation.
