Taplin (1740?-1807) was a veterinary surgeon, particularly skilled in treating ailments and defects in horses, and the author of several books related to equestrian matters and the sporting world, including The Gentleman's Stable Directory (2 vols.). This work, published in 1803 in two volumes, is inscribed to the Earl of Sandwich, Master of His Majesty's Stag Hounds. Volume 1 of 2.
