Descrizione Special Edition Using XML Schema

Explains the differences between Schemas and today's Document Type Definition (DTD). Author David Gulbransen is CEO of Vervet Logic, the company which created XML Pro, an XML editor. Organized along the lines of the W3C specification so readers can easily "dip in" for explanation of a particular topic. Special Edition Using XML Schemas starts with an explanation of Schema basics: why they were created, the advantages they offer over DTDs, and an overview of the two major parts of the specification: Structure and Datatypes. Next, the author explains the differences between DTDs and Schemas, and demonstrates a simple DTD-to-Schema conversion. The bulk of the book explains the many parts of Schemas, dissecting the structure of a Schema and then introducing Datatypes. Each section includes practical examples, which the author creates and explains, building from the material discussed in the previous section. At the end of the book, the author demonstrates a large, real-world example Schema, showing how all the parts of Schemas interact and how readers would build XML data from the example Schema. David Gulbransen is the CEO of Vervet Logic, an XML tools development company. Vervet produces XML Pro, an XML editor designed to allow users to easily create and edit XML documents. David has been involved with XML since before there was a standard--Vervet shipped beta releases of XML Pro before XML 1.0 was final, and shipped its final version simultaneously with the final W3C recommendation.
