This is the first comprehensive collection of Helga Novak's work in English translation. The collection includes work from Ballade der reisenden Anna (1965) up to and including work from Palisaden (1980). Quite evident, even in her earliest work, is the tremendous power of the language and an incisive and often bitter insight into the human condition.
