H. Grauert is one of the leading mathematicians in the world in the field of Several Complex Variables; through his research he not only shaped the development of this area decisively but also achieved some of the most important results. The articles selected as reflecting this influential research are published together for the first time in these two volumes of "Selecta" of "H. Grauert" and mirror two decades of excellence. Each paper has been augmented, for this edition, by a detailed commentary, thus offering a comprehensive survey of the development of this fascinating mathematical field from its beginnings in MA1/4nster and GAttingen. H. Grauert may be regarded as a direct successor of Gauss, holding a chair at GAttingen that before him was held by Siegel, Weyl, Hilbert, Riemann and Gauss.
