Descrizione The role of religion in shaping Saudi Arabia's Foreign Policy

Saudi Arabia's historical position as the cradle of Islam; a religion accepted by more than a billion people in the world coupled with its vast oil resources has made it one of the influential players in international affairs. This book seeks to examine how this important country relates to the outside world especially with regard to the Sub-Saharan Africa a Sub-region that is located just across the Sea from Saudi Arabia and a considerable number of whose inhabitants are followers of the Islamic faith. In order to bring out the dynamics at play in Saudi's relations with Sub-Sahara Africa, the author chose a case study of Uganda a country that has witnessed, at different periods in time, both cordial and cold relations with Saudi Arabia. The book further examines the Amin factor in Saudi -Uganda relations. The book may be useful to, among others, policy makers in foreign policy matters, those who are interested on doing business with Saudi Arabia as well as to ordinary readers that are curious to know something about the Saudi society, the issues that endeared Idi Amin to Saudi Arabia and the relationship between Saudi Arabia and Uganda after Idi Amin.
