This book provides a bird¿s eye view of the current state of knowledge on the different types of phyto-chemical constituents/secondary metabolites that are present in plants and the effect of these compounds in curing different types of gynaecological problems affecting women in many parts of the world. It also provides an overview on the traditional system of medicine that is still in practised in different regions of India. The book also mentions about traditional medicine prevalent among the different tribes in North-East India with special reference to Assam in particular. The main focus that is emphasised in this book is primarily on contraceptive or anti-fertility effect of these extract on experimental animals. It is hoped that this book can be used as a reference while caring out similar studies on plant extract and their effect as contraceptive in future.
