Alonso-Zarazaga & Lyal (1999) treated it as subfamily (Rhynchophorinae). Weevils of this tribe have pygidium (VII abdominal tergite) not covered with elytra. This tribe includes the largest weevils of the subfamily, such as palm weevils, and the most common grain pests like rice weevil.
