The purpose of this monograph is to attempt toreconcile the growing adult population in ouruniversities, colleges, and community colleges with apedagogy that has largely been focused upontraditional learners. The focus of this monograph issolely upon an introductory course aimed at adultlearners. I re-vision and transform an introductorylevel undergraduate education course (ED Teaching &Learning 390: Introduction to Teaching withTechnology) into a computer-based course that focusesupon adult learners through a step-by-stepexamination of the course's: background andtheoretical framework, methodology and model, goalsand objectives, syllabus construction and grading,sample assignments and sample assessments. A workingdefinition of non-traditional or adult learnersconsiders: they are legal adults, generally over theage of 24, (and/or, who are parents) working in anon-academic position or field; they are eitherreturning to college after years of absence or theyhave never attended college. This work will be ofinterest to teachers of any discipline who aremotivated to re-vision their pedagogy/andragogy to bemore inclusive of non-traditional students.
