This text seeks to interrogate prevailing EU foreign policy concepts. It endevours to answer the questions do human rights and civil liberties play any meaningful role in contemporary EU-Asia relations and what scope there is for human rights concerns to contribute to a coherent and systematic expansion of EU policies towards Asia.
