Radionuclides In The Food Chain

The purpose of this monograph is to present the current status of radionuclides in the food chain. This will be done by reviewing information and data in separate chapters, concerning specific topics. Contamination sources of radionuclides include naturally occurring materials, nuclear weapons testing, and accidents at major nuclear facilities such as at the U.S.S.R. Chernobyl nuclear power station. This monograph reviews past experience in dealing with radionuclides in the food chain, presents current concepts and programs in the areas of measurement, surveillance, effects, risk management, guidelines for evaluation, and regulatory and control activities.
