Productivity of Organic and Conventional Farms

The measurement of crop production is an important parameter to consider when addressing dual challenge of meeting global food demands and mitigating environmental damage. Most of the world's undernourished people suffering from chronic hunger are living in South Asia, which is why the region is focused. To analyze the difference in productivity between organic and conventional farms, a meta-analysis was conducted with the estimation of effect size and by testing the statistical significance of relative organic yield over absolute conventional yield.This book entails variation in organic and conventional farms' productivity by farm types, farming systems, crop types and by countries estimating the effect size for each. Statistical significance is tested over relative organic yield and absolute conventional yield. it highlights concurrent issues, gaps and challenges in regards with the organic and conventional farms' productivity with some practical recommendations and future research scope in organic and conventional farming system.
