Education is perceived as the engine of economic growth and social prosperity. However, the ideological shift of the 1980s towards the private sector and redefined roles of the state has caused growing inequality and educational problems associated with poverty. Much of this inequality can be attributed to the skewed allocation of resources within the educational sector.
