Data analysis is crucial in getting the best outcomefrom an astronomical observation. It is cheaper toinvest in data analysis than in new expensivetelescopes, space missions, and instrumentation.That, of course is a false dilemma, but it is alsotrue that often not enough effort is paid to dataanalysis compared to other disciplines.This book tries to fill in this gap with showing aseries of a new data reduction algorithms andobservational techniques in Astronomy. Among them,image deconvolution in wide-field images, new starcentering algorithms, and new CCD acquisitiontechniques such as fast-drift scanning appliedto lunar occultations and speckle interferometry.
