In Nigeria, the occurrence and complications of obesity like cardiovascular diseases, diabetes mellitus, and arthritis are increasing. Aim: To develop intervention strategies for prevention of obesity, its metabolic anomaly and the promotion of well-being at personal, community and workplace to reduce mortality. Methods: A survey of 398 long-distance commercial drivers in Abuja was conducted using systematic sampling technique and a semi-structured questionnaire. Blood pressure, height, weight, fasting cholesterol and blood glucose were determined. Obesity was defined as Body Mass Index (BMI) ¿30 Kg/m2.
