Descrizione Novel Carbon Adsorbents
This reference work complements and to some extent succeeds Adsorption by Carbons (Bottani & Tascon, 2008), changing the focus to deal with the adsorption aspects of novel, currently deployed, industrially prototyped carbonaceous materials. Research into the adsorption phenomenon has a fundamental contribution to the advancement of basic science. Adsorption also has practical applications in fields such as environment protection and energy storage. Among the solid materials (adsorbents) used in this process, those constituted by elemental carbon (carbons) deserve specific scientific scrutiny and have been the subject of numerous recent articles, books, and conferences, due to their myriad proven and monetized uses for the burgeoning and hugely important fuel cell and environmental remediation markets. The work provides a global view of novel carbon solids in connection with their performance in adsorption. Numerous books exist that deal with adsorption, either from a fundamental or applied perspective, but this title is unique in regard to focusing purely on the carbon materials that have only recently been discovered, as well as dual coverage of gas-solid and liquid-solid adsorption.
