The Myth of the Sacred

The "myth of the sacred" is the idea that certain aspects of the constitutional process--judicial political behaviour, interest group politics, and centralization of power--are untouchable politically. This myth has been perpetuated by certain actors and institutions, including the popular media and much of the scholarly literature, who often disguise their overtly political behaviour with a cloak of impartiality and present their actions as furthering the public good.
