Vicky Price dreams of being a famous writer like her favourite author - Dickie Doyle - whose best-selling Wizardatron books are being made into films - ironically starring Vicky's famous actor brother Daniel. Living with her poet grandmother, Vicky one day has a chance encounter with local writer Jimmy Spoon and, over the next few weeks, a series of events are set in motion that make Vicky question the trappings of fame whilst still clinging to her writing dream - and she records it all in her journal. But even Vicky can't possibly imagine how things will turn out - especially when she discovers that shy, stammering Jimmy Spoon hides an extraordinary secret...
