My Evening With Emilio

Emilio sat at his kitchen table, staring at the bills in front of him. He was late on the rent and didn't know where the money was going to come from. How was he going to take care of his young daughter? He was unemployed and had no prospects of landing a job in the near future. He was panicking at the thought of being broke and having so many responsibilities. He reached into his pocket and pulled out his wallet and searched for the phone number of an old buddy from California. Holding the number in his hand, he thought, Should I make this call? Emilio picked up the phone and paused. He was about to make the worst decision of his life.
