Michael Lee Aday, born Marvin Lee Aday on September 27th, 1947 in Dallas, Texas, US, known professionally as Meat Loaf, was a singer & actor, with a powerful, wide-ranging voice who performed theatrical live shows. His Bat Out of Hell trilogy - Bat Out of Hell, Bat Out of Hell II: Back into Hell, and Bat Out of Hell III: The Monster Is Loose - sold over 65 million albums worldwide. The 1st L.P. remained in the charts for more than 9 years & over 4 decades after its release was still selling c. 200,000 copies / year, making it one of the best-selling albums in history. Despite Bat Out of Hell then Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell being huge hits, with Aday receiving a Grammy Award for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance for the song 'I'd Do Anything for Love', he still didn't couldn't establish a steady career in the US. However, that didn't stop him from becoming one of the biggest music artists of all time, with worldwide sales of over 100 million records. The key to Meat Loaf's success was his iconic status and popularity in Europe, especially Great Britain, where he won the Brit Award for best-selling album & single in 1994, appeared in the movie Spice World [1997] then ranked 23rd for the number of weeks spent on the UK charts during 2006. He ranked 96th on VH1's '100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock'. Michael appeared in over 50 films and TV shows, sometimes as himself or as characters like his stage persona. His roles in motion pictures include those of Eddie in The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) then Bob Paulson in Fight Club (1999). Aday's early stage work included dual roles in the original Broadway cast of The Rocky Horror Show, having also appeared in the musical Hair, both on and off Broadway.
