Marriage in Changing Japan

This text provides a detailed and descriptive analysis of the social organisation of, and place of marriage in, one community in Kyushu. Secondly, it analyses this in the light of historical ethnographical writings on Japan, bringing together a great deal of information about Japanese marriage.
