Marine Planktology

Marine planktology comprises a large, mixed community of marine organisms, drifting at the mercy of waves and currents. This book deals with the morphology and taxonomy of the more important phyto- and zooplankton, including protozoans, diatoms, coelenterates, crustaceans, molluscs, and chaetognaths, with a separate chapter on planktonic larvae. Its focus on the common species occurring off the Chinese coast is a special feature, representing an important contribution to knowledge of the geographical distribution of these species in the world seas. In addition, there is a brief account of the history and future directions of marine planktology in China and abroad, as well as an extensive list of references.
