John Yap (Chinese: 葉志明; pinyin: Ye Zhiming) MLA is a Canadian politician and currently serves as British Columbia\'s Minister of Advanced Education, Innovation, and Technology and as Minister Responsible for Multiculturalism. Since 2005, he has represented the riding of Richmond-Steveston in the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia. He is a member of the BC Liberal Party. Originally from Singapore, Yap emigrated with his parents to Canada and to BC\'s Lower Mainland where he graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Masters of Business Administration and worked as a banker and financial advisor.
