Factors influencing the use of medicines by consumers in Tiko, Cameroon, tells the story of how economic challenges, strong sociocultural bonding and poor regulation contribute to inappropriate medicines access and use by consumers of health. It looks into three groups of consumers: teachers, taxi drivers and petty traders selling food crops and captures interesting view points from these three groups. The reasons why consumers need and obtain medicines vary from actually health need to perceived health needs and course of treatment might be complete or incomplete depending on the financial viability of the consumer and the quantity available from a benevolent neighbour or friend or brother willing to share that which is available.
