Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The Southern Earless Lizard (Holbrookia subcaudalis) is a species of Phrynosomid lizard found in Mexico. It was once considered to be a subspecies of the Spot-tailed Earless Lizard, Holbrookia lacerata, but was given full species status in 1994. Lizards are a widespread group of squamate reptiles, with nearly 3800 species, ranging across all continents except Antarctica as well as most oceanic island chains. The group, traditionally recognized as the suborder Lacertilia, is defined as all extant members of the Lepidosauria (reptiles with overlapping scales), which are neither sphenodonts (i.e., tuatara) nor snakes
