Hell At 30,000 Feet

Fran Goldcamp, a seventeen-year-old highschool senior in the spring of 1943, took the first step in his life-long ambition to fly an airplane when he joined the US Army Air Corps. Thus began the odyssey that led him through several military training camps, his commission as a second lieutenant, the ultimate assignment as a co-pilot on a B-24 bomber crew, and finally 30 combat missions over Nazi targets in Europe. He was the only member of that original crew to survive the war. Hell at 30,000 Feet recounts the dangers he and his fellow crewmen faced from enemy fighter planes and anti-aircraft fire at the ages of eighteen and nineteen years-and his return home when his mission was completed.
