Handfuls of Soil by Bessie T. Wilkerson celebrates God's creation of the world, focusing on how He made us with care and love and appreciating His handiwork. It also teaches young readers about God as our Creator, discussing different things He made and that He is a good Provider-for example, He summoned handfuls of soil to make the buds and the seeds, which in turn feeds the birds and the bees. This is an important message to teach children, especially in today's society where God creating the world is not often taught. This book celebrates the diversity of people that God made, mentioning God using handfuls of soil to create brown hands and brown girls and boys. Bessie "Terry" Wilkerson is an ordained minister that prefers being outdoors. In 2002 Bessie earned a Master of Education degree in Psychological Studies from Cambridge College. She has worked in the Early Childhood Education/Human Services field for over three decades. Bessie is a PK (preacher's kid) who loves the Lord. She delights in singing and traveling. Bessie led her first song at the age of 6 years old at her father's church. She also has a three-book series titled "The Weather" series and has written several other multi-cultural children's books. Her first book is titled The Hungry Squirrel was published in 2015. Bessie resides in Massachusetts with her adult children.
