Ghetto Lullabies

Nefertari Imani Baraka is a teacher, poetess, singer, and spoken word artist. Though currently living in Georgia, she was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. She has worked with the Detroit Council of the Arts and sits on the board of directors of Elder Care and Youth Education Foundation, Inc. (ECAYE), an organization whose first priority is to inspire and assist students in achieving a higher education. These poems are a snapshot of things sheas seen and places sheas been in her life, either firsthand or through people sheas met. aA ghetto is not a place, itas a state of mind.a
