Gaspard Monge, Comte de Peluse (9 May 1746 - 28 July 1818) was a French mathematician and the inventor of descriptive geometry, the mathematical basis on which technical drawing is based. During the French Revolution he served as the Minister of the Marine, he and was involved in the reform of the French educational system, helping to found the Ecole Polytechnique.
