The First Phase

Natalie Brimley is enthusiastically starting her last year of high school. Brian Norway is reluctantly starting his first year of teaching. She canat wait to start taking the creative writing course. He canat wait for the year of teaching that course to be over. Her writing career is just about to bloom, but Mr. Norway feels that his has already ended. As he dwells on the pain of his past, she is obsessed with getting to her future. Natalieas present life, however, becomes littered with parent problems, fickle friends, and regretful romance. Soon, it seems that this teacher and his student have nothing in common. But, through their writing, they discover how similar they really are, and how much they need each other.
