Fenugreek and termis seeds as ameliorative agents for diabetes

Diabetes mellitus characterized by hyperglycemia. Fenugreek and Termis seeds powder could restore the changes induced by streptozotocin to the normal levels after 30 days of treatment. The potent hypoglycemic and antioxidant effects of such seeds powder may be mediated by enhancement of insulin release and delay gastric emptying which caused reduction of intestinal glucose absorption and to the change of glucose and lipid metabolizing enzyme activities to normal values.
