Descrizione Epidemiological profile of human neurocysticercosis in Lubumbashi

Human neurocysticercosis is a disease with remarkable socio-economic consequences in humans. It causes public health problems especially in low-income countries such as the DRC. It is in this context that we set ourselves the objective of determining the extent of morbidity attributable to this disease among epileptic patients admitted to the neuropsychiatric center of Lubumbashi; to describe its epidemiological profile and to evaluate the degrees of knowledge, attitudes and practices of the population handling pigs in the city of Lubumbashi on infested animals and meats. To achieve this, a mixed study was conducted. To achieve this, a mixed study was carried out. The cross-sectional aspect of the study focused on the exploitation of 190 clinical records of epileptics who consulted the Neuropsychiatric Center in 2015-2018, as well as meat expertise reports from 2018-2019 held by veterinarians assigned to the slaughterhouses of the said city. Interviews were also conducted with pig handlers and patient managers.
