Enzo Cucchi

This book considers the work of Enzo Cucchi (b. 1949), one of the most wellknown and esteemed Italian artists working today. Gaining recognition as a central figure of the Transavantguarde, the dominant style in Italy in the early 80's, Cucchi is primarily a painter, although his extensive production of drawings has attracted international attention in the past few years. He has also made numerous outdoor sculptures, and has worked both as a set designer and book illustrator. His dynamic drawings often depict imaginary, dream-like travels, and include many different symbolic and metaphorical motifs such as houses, horses, dogs and ships. These works have a strong emotional and multinational appeal.
