Descrizione Egyptian Buffaloes Milk Fatty Acids Affected by Vegetable Oils Feeding

Recently many researches have shown that unsaturated trans-10, cis-12 C18:2 inhibit tumors growth in colon and gastric cancer cell lines; as well, cis-9, trans-11 C18:2 may be efficacious in reducing risk of breast cancer in premenopausal women. The studies published about antidiabetic effect of conjugated linoleic acid isomers (CLA) also indicated that either cis-9, trans-11 C18:2 or trans-10, cis-12 C18:2 increase insulin resistances in obese men with metabolic syndrome. It has also been shown that trans-10, cis-12 C18:2 is responsible for the body mass reduction and weight change (McCrorie et al. 2011). As well, other CLA health benefits are well known, such as anticarcinogenic, antidiabetic andantiadipogenic effects (Pariza, 1999; Banni et al., 2003 and Belury, 2003). Its role in vitamin A metabolism (Carta et al., 2002), bone modeling (Watkins et al., 2003) and immune response (Cook et al., 2003) has also been reported. In view of the potential benefits to human health, there are considerable interests in developing nutritional strategies to boost milk CLA content, cis-9, trans-11 CLA in particular.
