Doreen Ambrose-Van Lee, mother of three children, ages, 2, 8, and 10, grew up in Chicagoas Cabrini Green neighborhood. She has two sisters and two brothers. Her mother is a retired teacher; her father a retired factory worker. She resides on the west side of Chicago. She served in the United States Army, and earned a B.A. degree in print journalism from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. She enjoys writing poetry and short stories. Doreen has had stories and poems printed in major newspapers and magazines throughout the U.S. She is a member of poets.com and wrote a book of poetry entitled Raised I the Sun.
