Delhi: Its Monuments and History

Written in an engaging and wonderfully informal manner, the book brings alive the many sights and sounds of Delhi - the sultans and their ruined buildings, tongas and lazy picnics. First published in 1943, and updated by Narayani Gupta and Laura Sykes and issued with annotations in 1994, the third edition includes a foreword by Narayani Gupta that describes the changes the city has undergone since.
