The topic of professional dispositions in teachereducation has become of increasing study and researchsince the National Council for the Accreditation ofTeacher Education (2000) mandated dispositions as anarea to be included in the conceptual framework ofteacher education programs across the United Statesof America. Dispositions as an expansion of theaffective domain of learning seeks to encourageteachers to incorporate high moral and ethicalvalues, attitudes and attention to social justicewithin the context of a multicultural educationalsystem. This work studied the concept of dispositionsfrom the perspectives of teacher candidates,education faculty program administrators,psychologists and interested organizations. Myfindings revealed that program administrators andfaculty across the U.S.A. are working to adoptprofessional dispositions for teachers into theircurriculum, their instruction and assessmentapproaches. This work will be valuable for teachercandidates, doctoral candidates, education policymakers, program directors, education faculty andothers interested in making teaching a profession ofhigh value and class.
