The person sometimes known as "God" in the Bible was frequently displeased and even furiously angry about the turn of events. Did he choose to be unhappy, or was he unable to be happy in the teeth of adversity? If he chose to be unhappy, then he was demented, and if he was unable to be happy, then he was a victim of circumstance, just like the rest of us: so why call him "God"? He also punished people for crimes which they had not committed: so why call him "God," if God is someone to whom we owe our absolute allegiance, devotion and worship?
