Cocodrie

In 1917 a young soldier flees the consequences of his brutality, throwing himself from his troop train into the horrors of the swamp called Cocodrie. His tale joins the stories of a small community which, through the ages, has survived in this dark, forgotten place. Cocodrie is the colorful recanting of struggles and pleasures through generations there. It is story of Inmanuata, a chieftain of another age, whose spirit still roams the swamp as a ghostly cougar. And Cocodrie tells of the last pirate of New Orleans, who forfeited his heritage for the refuge of the swamp. The tale follows the lives of his twin sons, born of the swamp, whose deep kinship affects even the nationas politics in a troubled time. It is also the chronicle of the swamp itselfa]that unbending force of nature battling the invasion of civilization and finally triumphing in a way as raw and brutal as the reptilian king who rules it, giving it the name Cocodrie.
