Maybe he can explain away all the messes he has made today. And maybe, just once, his mom will say he doesn't have to do his chores today. Chores is a poetic and entertaining story from a boy's perspective, showing the reluctance of having to clean up his "messes" and attempting to convince his mother that they were left with purpose.
