In broad sense, it may refers to animations that are made in any Chinese speaking countries such as People's Republic of China (mainland China), Republic of China (Taiwan), Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, etc. The style of animation in mainland China is distinctive from other Chinese-speaking countries due to strict censorship.[citation needed] In countries such as Taiwan and Hong Kong, there is a much higher degree of creative freedom given to animators and producers.
