A chargeexchange recombination spectroscopy diagnostic isimplemented on Alcator C-Mod tokamak to study thehigh density plasma in a high magnetic field.Density, temperature, and flow velocity of theemitting plasma ions are derived from the analysis ofthe emission spectra. The application of theCXRS-measured temporally and spatially resolvedplasma parameters to the study of the impurityanomalous transport and the ITB (impurity transportbarrier) turbulence suppression mechanism wasdemonstrated.
