Based on a true story... Rachel's ordinary life as a secretary after high school could not have prepared her for military life during wartime. Her motives were innocent. Her trials with reality within the military decorum of WWII were outside of the rule book. Following her lobotomy, she had no life on her own-her judgement was like that of a ten-year-old. Then serendipity stepped in. Fate brought an old acquaintance back into her life, and without her knowledge, he fought to give her the peace she deserved to live out the rest of her life. Perhaps, he loved her. Dar Gardner wrote and rewrote Casualty three times over the years, while raising a family and working away from home. This is her first published book. Her "muse" kept her busy writing short stories her entire life. She currently resides in a small town in Nebraska, still writing at age seventy-seven.
