Bottom up Approach and MGNREGA: A Case Study of Morigoan, Assam

This book makes a humble attempt to highlight the socio-economic factors responsible for the low level of participation of the people in the flagship programme of rural development namely Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA)), based on primary survey conducted in Morigoan District of Assam. MGNREGA is such a rural development programme which has emphasized on people¿s participation at the grass root level in all matters relating to their benefits. It is the Gram Sabha in MGNREGA that gives a space to the people to come forward to participate in decision-making process to the evaluation process of the programme.
